The Not So Problematic Alec
Bandit's Bluff and Backroom Brawls

We find our heroes in the city of Fallcrest, investigating the whereabouts of a man named Alec. A Fallcrest guard informs our intrepid troupe that a man named Alec was jailed during the previous night for brawling with a local noble, Serim Saldizar. Alec is indeed in the jailhouse, eager for his release. Attempting to use this to their advantage, the trio offer to bail Alec out in exchange for assistance in taking out Orest. Although Alec acknowledges that he is gunning for Orest, he deems the group untrustworthy, and decides to wait for his friends to bail him out.

After some deliberation, the three decide to find Alec and try and persuade him again. Their line of inquiry leads them to the Lucky Gnome Taphouse, where Alec is playing a game of Bandit’s Bluff. Wagering Alec’s participation against a hefty sum of silver, the cadre of heroes let fate decide the direction of their quest.

Though Alec won in the end, he offered in condolence all the information he had on Orest and why he was sent after him. This information would be exchanged at the moonwash falls at midnight. Upon their arrival, Alec relays that he has been hired by Kelsen, the owner of the Lucky Gnome Taphouse, and leader of the River Rat gang, to gain access to an artifact owned by Orest, Tiamat’s Ring. After hearing this information, Orest leaves the problem to his hired help, they can solve the problem however they wish, he just wants the problem solved.

Throwing caution to the wind, Kriv, Ilphyn, and Sarn make their way back to the Taphouse, in search of Kelsen. Having little luck locating their quarry, the three again run into Alec. Wishing at first to advise their friend of the attack coming on their employer, our heroes gain allegiance with Alec, who will do anything for some quick gold, especially if violence is involved.

After sweet-talking his way to the backroom, the group of hired muscle is confronted by a guard who will not let them pass with their weapons. Sarn hands over his dagger, and enters the room. After identifying their target, he signals to his allies to enter by force and help him attack Kelsen.

Halves of Halflings fling across the room, guards get knocked in the gourd, and Kelsen is Killed. On his body, a strange not in Rellanic script is found, presumably given to Kelsen by a noble who left room before brawling began.

Summoning his arcane knowledge, Sarn read a ritual to reveal the rellanic. The note concerned Orest’s Ring of Tiamat. “How do you know about the ring?

Meet in Taphouse basement for payment
bring the ring
As promised, you shipments will no longer be subject to inspection upon entrance to the city.
H.M."

With this new information on their minds, the troupe of troublemakers traveled to Naerumar’s imports for their hard earned payment. With thier sum of gold, the trio heard that their audeince was requested by Lord Faron, the ruler of Fallcrest.

To Fallcrest!
Goblins Decend on some prized merchandise

We find our heroes escorting Orest Naerumar’s merchandise (Including a prized enchanted Scimitar) on The King’s Road towards Fallcrest . Orest’s travels of recent have been plagued by bandits and theives, he suspects a mysterious figure, Alec , is behind it. As the band makes camp for lunch a speeding cart approaches from the east carrying spear throwing assailants. Sarn and Ilphyn take up flanking positions only to find more goblins surrounding their position!

Ilphyn’s arrows descend like fell raindrops, Kriv’s figure blurs as he deals vicious blows to multiple attackers, all the while Sarn’s arcane fire scorches those who dare approach his arcane countenance. Victory was had.

Orest, who had disappeared during the battle, returned with a bemused look and after inspection determined that his hired help had prevented any thefts. Further along the road, The contingent happened upon a halfling merchant, Cobb ,willing to sell some enchanted armor. Though the price was beyond the means of the three heroes and Orest had no need for it, Orest offered to buy it for his escorts if they solved his “Alec Problem” Despite the fact that the armor is more valuable than all of the warriors possessions, combined, Sarn seeks a more even reward for all members of the party. The merchant deems the situation “Sketchy” and retracts his offer. Sarn is very sorry.

Reaching Fallcrest without incident. Orest thanks the trio for their services and tells them to meet him in the morning at his [[Naerumar’s Import’s | Naerumar’s Import’s]] for their compensation. After vainly chasing a street urchin who attempted to steal from Kriv, our heroes spend the night in an a single room in the Riverside Inn. Sarn notices some commotion in the hallway in the wee hours of the morning. After some futile investigation he returns to the rented room. The next day the budding adventures recieve their hard earned gold, Sarn learns a bunch of boring stuff about the city, and the trio looks into solving the “Alec Problem.”
